The Annual General Meeting of the Parents, Family & Friends Association, St John of God, Carmona Services will take place in The Hall, Dunmore House at 8 p.m. on Thursday 19th April 2018.
For families interested in Future Supported Living (Residential) Services for their family member with an intellectual disability, there will be a discussion at 7.30pm, led and moderated by members of the Supported Living Housing Committee of the Association.
Following the required administrative business of the meeting, there will be a presentation and discussion about the CRPD and what it might mean to you and your family member with a disability.
The UN CRPD – The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has finally been Ratified by Ireland. The last EU Country to do so.
But what does it mean? Will it help your intellectually disabled relative to have a more enjoyable future? What might result from Ratification? and How will people obtain the Rights and Dignity that the CRPD clarifies?
Is the CRPD potentially the most important and significant event to happen to the community of people with disabilities and their families?
We won’t cover it all in one session. The intention is to give members an understanding of the significance, and get conversation started.
